Festive Fizz And Sparkle At Wine Rack

'Tis the season to drink Champagne and sparkling wine, and Wine Rack has a selection to suit everyone this Christmas. Whether it's ripe and rich, or delicate and light, there's plenty on offer for everyone in store or at www.winerack.co.uk.

2007 Champagne Prestige des Sacres Cuvée Grenat

Was £34.99, Now £26.24 (until 5th Jan)

Steeped in history, this tipple comes from the oldest vineyards in Champagne, which provided wines for the coronations of French Kings as far back as the ninth century. This 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir blend undergoes four years of ageing to add complexity and depth of flavour. The high natural acidity in the northern vineyard in which it originates keeps it fruity and fresh.

Tasting notes

On the nose this wine offers rich brioche aromas, whilst on the palate it has hints of lemon peel and peach, with a zesty acidity.

Goes well with…delicate festive canapĂ©s. Alternatively, experience the fine vintage flavour by enjoying as an aperitif.

French Connection Brut Rose Champagne

£19.99 (until 5th Jan)

A wine from newcomer to the market, French Connection, this is a full balanced blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Its modern style makes it a fun and exciting choice for Christmas.

Tasting notes

This well-made wine has notes of red fruits on the nose. With a bubbly, fruity flavour it is zesty on the palate and has a refreshing finish. These traditional notes in flavour keep it classy and sophisticated.

Goes well with…classic canapĂ©s such as blinis or bruschetta. This bubbly Champagne is also another perfect aperitif.

NV Gauthier Brut Champagne

Was £22.99, Now £19.99 (until 5th Jan)

A delightful blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier created by the notably high quality House of Gauthier. It's a great wine to show off at celebratory events, and at a fantastic price.

Tasting notes

It has a golden yellow colour and the nose is based on ripe fruits. With a fine and delicate foam, this versatile Champagne is a good choice to suit all tastes at a party.

Goes well with…hot starters such as feuilletĂ©s. Also a great aperitif and complementary to fish dishes.

Chapel Down English Rose Vintage Reserve Brut

£22.99 (until 5th Jan)

This 100% Pinot Noir sparkling wine is delicate and feminine, with exciting fruity notes. It is classically English and makes a great alternative to Prosecco, or a great choice for those who might find some Champagnes too sharp.

Tasting notes

Delicate rose petal pink in colour, it has a fine, prolonged mousse. A nose of light lemon sherbet is joined with touches of blackcurrant and rosehip, with the sweetness of wild strawberry on the palate.

Goes well with…fruit-based desserts such as Christmas pudding, thanks to its light and delicate flavour.
