Royal Box In The Theatre Of The Kitchen At Cavendish Hotel

The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow, set on the Chatsworth Estate, is presenting a whole new take on 'kitchen sink drama'. Thrilling dining in the heart of the kitchen has been offered at the hotel for well over 20 years - long before it became popular with celebrity chefs - but it was just limited to two people.  Now, following a complete makeover by Yorkshire designer Rachel McLane working for the Duchess of Devonshire, four diners can book the exclusive Kitchen Table amid all the hustle and bustle of a busy night's service.  This 'royal box', complete with air conditioning and atmospheric lighting, allows diners to take in the theatre of the kitchen whilst indulging in a five-course gourmet experience.

The evening starts with a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne and canapés, followed by chef Mike Thompson's surprise menu, five courses of exquisite food created and cooked exclusively for Kitchen Table diners.  The menu can be matched with a flight of specially selected wines to complement each course or diners can select from the 80 bin wine list.

The five-course bespoke dinner available for up to four diners, including Champagne and canapés on arrival,  is £85 per person. The flight of wines is good value at £29.95 per person.

Having experienced the buzz of the busy kitchen and a bespoke dinner, it only leaves diners to retire to one of the newly refurbished bedrooms for the night.  Full county breakfast the following day is served in the Gallery Restaurant where, subject to availability, guests are offered a window seat to enjoy the views across the Chatsworth Estate.
