Serving Up An Egg-Stra Special Easter



One of the North East's top catering companies is offering families the chance to enjoy an egg-stra special Easter at two of the region's leading venues.

1879 Events Management, which runs catering and hospitality at the National Glass Centre, Sunderland and Stadium of Light, is serving up a special Easter lunch on Sunday April 20.

Each venue will have its own menu, specially prepared by 1879's award-winning chefs, with young visitors at both sites receiving a complimentary Easter egg to take away.

The Stadium of Light menu, which will be served in the Riverview Brasserie from midday, offers the choice of four starters, five main courses and four desserts, including cod and parsley fish cakes, Cumberland sausage ring served in a giant Yorkshire pudding and classic lemon tart.

The equally traditional National Glass Centre menu, available in the Brasserie, includes three options for each course; all made using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.  This ranges from smoked mackerel pate and braised topside of beef to hot cross pudding.

It also includes a vegetarian dish of the day - spring vegetable casserole topped with a herb suet dumpling - and a fish dish of the day - poached salmon fillet with buttered heritage potatoes and green beans.

Both menus are priced at £17.95 for three courses, with the option to enjoy just one or two courses at the National Glass Centre for £9.95 and £13.95 respectively and reduced rates for children at both sites.

Diners at the Stadium will also have the opportunity to book a tour of SAFC's home ground, with further rate reductions on offer for the club's season ticket holders.
