Tastiest Pudding Award for Simply Cornish



Christmas has come early for Simply Cornish, the retail brand of Warrens Bakery, who are thrilled to have been awarded the accolade of 'Tastiest non-supermarket Christmas pudding' by Country Life magazine. Simply Cornish's legendary Christmas pudding beat off stiff competition from fourteen other finalists including Harrods' Decadent Christmas Pudding which was placed second. Praise for the popular pud included 'utterly delicious', 'tastes just like Christmas' and 'Christmas pudding as it should be'.

Made using Cornish stout, the indulgent traditional pudding is crafted using the finest juicy fruit, rich butter, warm spices and brandy which are then matured, creating a mouth-watering taste and texture.  Simply Cornish's Christmas Pudding is available from Warrens Bakery's 50 stores across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Bristol and online at www.warrensbakery.co.uk, priced from £8.75, 454g.

A recipe for perfect Yorkshire pudding

A lot is spoken about Yorkshire pudding but is in not such a very difficult thing to do. All it is, is a batter mix that is put in a mould with some oil so that it soufflés up as it bakes. As long as you follow a few simple rules then you should have a perfect pudding every time. To make the batter you will need. 125g/8oz plain flour 300ml/¾ pint milk 2 eggs Pinch of salt Some vegetable oil. Now a lot of propel say that you need a strong bread flour to make a god batter for Yorkshire puddings but I have found that over time it does not really matter. But if you are going to use a strong flour let it rest for a little longer to allow the glutens to start working and get soaked up in the liquid .
