Local Greensleeves Care Home, Broadlands, Oulton Broad, Suffolk, has been
recognised with a national award for its superb culinary skills. The Home
has just received the prestigious Award for Care Catering Establishment of
the Year from the National Association for Care Catering, beating more than
30 places UK- wide.
Praise was given to Broadlands’ for its high level of care, peaceful
homeliness and the opportunities provided for relaxation in the Home’s
extensive grounds. It triumphed in the category that recognises the Day Care
Unit or Residential Care Establishment, whose service of meals delivers
choice, meets dietary needs and ensures that the eating experience is
thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, the judges described Broadlands as the place
in which they would most like to be a resident.
Anne Maas, Manager, Broadlands, said:
“Proper nutrition is so important to older people and food is a major part
of their day. We make home-cooked meals that are well-balanced and taste
great. They are served attractively in delightful dining rooms. We are
truly international and versatile as we cook foods from all over the world
and hold barbeques and picnics too”.
Broadlands uses its own produce in the kitchen provided direct from the
vegetable garden in the grounds, growing such nourishing delights as
asparagus, beans, tomatoes, strawberries and gooseberries.
