Rockliffe Hall: Two years on…

27 October 2011

Two years after opening, the leading English hotel resort, Rockcliffe Hall
reflects on their journey so far.

Since opening its doors in 2009, Rockliffe Hall has fast made waves as not
only the top resort in the North of England, but as one of the finest resort
destinations in the UK.

The hotel shot to the top achieving the coveted AA 5-stars within 12 months
of opening, alongside being awarded 3AA rosettes for the magnificent Kenny
Atkinson at the Orangery restaurant, winning a handful of accolades at the
North East Tourism Awards and at the prestigious Conde Nast Johansens awards
for Excellence.  Furthermore, the resorts 18 hole championship golf course
has been approved by the Professional Golf Association, and the 50,000
square foot Spa facility has achieved ‘5 bubbles’ from the Good Spa
Guide.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg for Rockliffe Hall, as managing
director Nick Holmes explains:

“We knew the resort would fast achieve industry recognition, however we
are still a new business and we have to plan to develop, grow and increase
our product offering in line with our core values to creating lasting
memories for our guests - unrivalled, exceptional and individual”.

This comes as the hotel recently announced that Kenny Atkinson – winner on
two occasions of BBC’s Great British Menu and 2-time Michelin star awarded
Chef - has now taken on a wider role within resort as the ‘Director of
Food’.

Kenny will now oversee the menus for weddings and banquets at Rockliffe as
well as keeping himself busy behind the stove in the Orangery and the new
look restaurant, ‘The Brasserie by Atkinson'.

Already famed for its panoramic views of the golf course and surrounding
countryside, the newly revamped “Brasserie” offers a relaxed dining
experience in a stylish and contemporary setting. The Brasserie tempts
diners with a choice between the Market Menu and the All Day Menu. Each
packed full with a range of sumptuous and mouth-watering modern classics,
focused on using the finest local ingredients and seasonal produce.

The new look Brasserie by Atkinson opened at the end of September, replacing
the current ‘Waterhouse’ restaurant in the New Wing of the hotel.

The resort has also recently re-launched the Spa Boutique, which has now
really come into its own with a fantastic range of brands that you would
normally struggle to find outside of London. The boutique stocks an
extensive range of Comfort Zone, ila, Mama Mio skin care products, as well
as Harrods favourites Leighton Denny Nails and Daniel Sandler Cosmetics.
New brands now available include Fake Bake, Mister Mascara and the beautiful
L’Occitane range.

With Christmas just around the corner, Rockliffe Hall has an array of
exciting events including traditional Party Nights, a 2nd Anniversary Ball,
Festive Dining and a New Years Eve Gala Celebration.  A wide range of
Christmas Gifts are also available both on-line and in the Spa Boutique.
Should you have visiting friends and relatives over the forthcoming festive
season, then Woodland Mews Holiday Homes may be the answer for that extra
accommodation required.  Two beautifully furnished four bedroom houses are
available within the grounds at Rockliffe for short term stays at reasonable
rates throughout the year.
