Officially Launched: Anton Piotrowski at the Glazebrook
After weeks of
suspense and intrigue, South Devon's Glazebrook House Hotel has just announced
its new executive chef, Michelin starred and MasterChef: The Professionals 2012
winner, Anton Piotrowski. Anton will be
overseeing the restaurant at the hotel, which has been suitably named 'Anton
Piotrowski at The Glazebrook'.
Officially
launched on Thursday 29th October to a restaurant full of friends, family and
loyal customers of the Glazebrook, Anton and his incredibly talented team
served up an exciting tasting menu created entirely with locally sourced
produce from within 50 miles. The local producers: S & J Fisheries, Philip
Warren Butchers, Westcountry Veg, Owen's Coffee, Luscombe Drinks, Christopher
Piper Wines & Forest Produce donated items for a stunning Devon hamper,
which was given to all.
The wines were
from all over the world, perfectly matched with the food by Rebecca Mitchell
AIWS. Every course, created by Anton,
wowed throughout the night. A nasturtium
flower was filled with a soft blue cheese and bites of honeycomb. Mac and cheese with a smoked cheese foam was
served with braised oxtail and a pulled pork taco. This sumptuous feast ended with two
outstanding desserts, including 'Paddington Bear', a marmalade and brown bread
ice cream coated in white chocolate served with a marmalade caramel and crunchy
sourdough.
Commenting on
this new partnership, Anton says: “The Glazebrook is a Devon hotel which is in
its own league. Owners Pieter and Fran
Hamman have brought style and creativity to the region that has not been seen
before. The fit between what the
Glazebrook House Hotel stands for and what I stand for as a chef is perfect!
Together we can put Devon on the map for both seasoned travellers and fanatical
foodies, delivering an experience they'll never forget.” He continues: “Add to this the fact we will
continue to ensure that the produce we use is sourced locally and regionally,
then overall we have a recipe for success.”
Amongst the
local produce used at the hotel are Luscombe Drinks, Christopher Piper Wines,
Owen's Coffee, and Country Cheeses. The Glazebrook's meat is sourced from
Gribbles Butchers and Philip Warren Butchers, fresh fish and seafood from S
& J Fisheries, vegetables from Westcountry Veg and the harder to find chefs
ingredients which are often used in Anton's creative cooking, come from Forest
Produce.
Pieter Hamman,
owner of the Glazebrook, says: “We were delighted with how the official launch
evening went.” He continues: “I've been
a great fan of Anton's cooking for a long time. When we moved to the county the
Treby Arms was one of the first pubs we went to and we have become regulars
since. We're so excited to have him on
board and think he will be an incredible addition, overseeing the already
dedicated and hardworking team in the kitchen here at the Glazebrook.”
Anton
Piotrowski grew up in Devon where he developed his passion for food. He trained
in Plymouth, developed his skills in some of the country's top restaurants and
then returned to Devon with his wife Clare to open the Treby Arms in the small
Devon village of Sparkwell. In 2012, He found culinary fame winning MasterChef:
The Professionals, and was awarded the highly regarded Michelin star in 2014.
The Glazebrook
House Hotel was recently listed in the Sunday Times' Ultimate 100 British
Hotels, and has recently been recognised as one of only three finalists by the
prestigious 2016 Condé Nast Johansens' Awards for Excellence, in their 'small
and exclusive' category. This luxury hotel has also been nominated as one of
three finalists in the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards' shortlist for having
the 'best hotel restaurant' in Devon. Additionally, LandLove magazine has
included Glazebrook House Hotel as a finalist in their award for 'Britain's
favourite place to eat'. The hotel was
also awarded a 'Certificate of Excellence' from Trip Advisor in the summer.
Revamped in
early 2014, there's no doubt that this boutique hotel will 'surprise, delight
and enrich'. With this new announcement
and all the recent successes, early booking is highly advised. Come and
experience why the Glazebrook House Hotel is rapidly moving into the country's
hottest and most desirable hotel number one spot.
