Perfect Father’s Day gift range, hand-selected by Glenfiddich

12 June 2012

In 1886, William Grant set out to fulfil a lifetime ambition to build his
own distillery. Ably helped by his seven sons, on Christmas Day 1887 the
family created the first drops of what has become the world’s most awarded
single malt Scotch whisky; Glenfiddich.

Now 125 years on, Glenfiddich still remains steadfastly family-owned with
the next generation of pioneering descendants expertly crafting a wide range
of single malt whiskies befitting every palate and pocket.

With Father’s Day on the horizon, Glenfiddich has put together a special
selection of fine Speyside single malts, helping those looking to find the
perfect gift for this special occasion.

Morrisons and Waitrose)

The three most popular expressions of Glenfiddich have been packaged
together to help Dad explore the range and to make a perfect Father’s Day
gift. This set contains a 5cl bottle of each of the following award-winning
whiskies: Glenfiddich 12 Year Old is the world’s best-selling single malt
Scotch whisky because of its appetising freshness, pear-like fruitiness and
elegance; the perfectly-balanced, sweet, rich and complex Glenfiddich 15
Year Old is a perennial favourite of the single malt enthusiast; the spicy,
robust and sophisticated Glenfiddich 18 Year Old is a rare delight. Between
them, these three whiskies perfectly illustrate the influence of extended
maturation and innovation with different types of oak casks.

The supersized version of the mini mix set, the tasting collection comprises
three 20cl bottles of three variants of Glenfiddich of different ages. The
tasting collection is ideal for sharing, after all, single malt Scotch
whisky is the most convivial of spirits. Glenfiddich 12 Year Old has been
matured in both Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, ensuring a perfect balance
between fresh fruit and subtle oak flavours. Glenfiddich 15 Year Old is
renowned for its richness derived from time spent in a Solera vat,
traditionally used to harmonise sherry, encouraging myriad different
flavours to come together. Finally, Glenfiddich 18 Year Old is a rare whisky
with the depth and complexity which only comes from extended maturation; it
is robust and distinguished.

The prestigious, deep burgundy gift box alludes to its superior contents;
Glenfiddich 21 Year Old. Matured in American and Spanish oak casks for 21
years to reach a rich smoothness, the whisky is then finished in Caribbean
rum casks, imparting notes of toffee, fig and vanilla sweetness. These
complex flavours are enhanced by a spicy warmth, oak and the merest hint of
smoke on the palate whilst rich aromas of fudge and hints of ripe banana
intermingle on the nose.

Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish, RRP £90.49 (Available at

spirit of Portuguese explorers in the 15th Century, and is Glenfiddich’s
first-ever 19 year old single malt Scotch whisky.

of the pioneering Portuguese explorers, while thanks to the oak casks, which
were previously used to age fine Madeira wine, the liquid is rich and
delicious, with aromas of ripe fig, caramelised fruit and spicy notes of
cinnamon and black pepper.
