L'Atelier de Courvoisier: An Extraordinary Journey For The Senses
28 Nov 12
Courvoisier is delighted to announce the launch of L'Atelier
de Courvoisier - an explorative insight into its renowned ageing cellar in
Cognac. L'Atelier will celebrate the alchemy of this prestigious cognac: the
meticulous craftsmanship of our master blender Patrice Pinet in bringing
together regional grapes, copper pot stills, new oak barrels and intricate
techniques to create this most precious liquid.
This one-of-a-kind experience will take place in the
exclusive Tasting Room in the Wine Shop on the lower ground floor of Harrods,
London from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 December.
Each day, between 12 and 4pm, brand ambassador Rebecca
Asseline will be conducting tastings of Courvoisier's celebrated XO directly
from the barrel and explaining the magic behind the brand. On Saturday 8
December, L'Atelier will play host to a one-off special evening, hosted by
master blender Patrice Pinet, where guests will embark upon an immersive and
educational journey through Courvoisier's rich heritage and alchemy.
It will begin with a bespoke cognac cocktail designed
especially by Nathan Merriman of London's iconic The Ivy, followed by a
mouth-watering food pairing experience to bring out the very best of the rich
aromas found in Courvoisier XO and finally an unforgettable sensory experience
known as 'Le Nez' which accentuates the three distinctive flavours in
Courvoisier XO: iris flower, crème brûlée and orange.
Finally, Patrice will offer a rare chance to taste
Courvoisier Succession J.S. - a prestigious blend created to commemorate the
bicentenary of the crowning of Napoleon as Emperor of France. Housed in a
beautifully handcrafted wooden replica of Napoleon's War Chest, just 2,500
bottles of this exclusive marque were produced globally, retailing for
£3,500. Succession is a blend of the
most refined cognacs from one of the finest Grande Champagne cru suppliers,
which were offered exclusively to the Courvoisier house specifically for this
particular blend and in testament to their long-standing relationship.
In the sensory-rich L'Atelier, visitors will learn more
about the innovative cognac and the methods which have been perfected over the
past two centuries to make Courvoisier the UK's number one. There will be a
stunning installation of vials filled with Courvoisier's eaux-de-vie to
demonstrate the ageing process of this treasured liquid in all its glory,
authentic barrels flown all the way from Jarnac, as well as a variety of
samples depicting the complex journey from grape to glass.
For a unique chance to take part in the alchemy experience
at L'Atelier de Courvoisier on Saturday 8 December register your interest by
emailing courvoisieratelier@focuspr.co.uk by 24 November 2012 stating your
preferred time slot (6pm, 7.15pm or 8pm).
