How to make a classic cocktail the Margarita
A margarita is a classic cocktail that I think is more popular over in America than any other country. At least that it what it looks like when you watch the television and films. I must admit that all my time I have served behind bars and around parties I have not often been asked for one.
Now the other thing is that I do not know that if this recipe is what would be considered a proper Margarita but it is the only one I know so if there are Margarita purist out there reading this I apologies beforehand.
It is a very simple mix, for one drink you will need. One and a half shots, about six table spoons of silver tequila. And half a shot two table spoons of Cointreau orange liquor. And one fresh lime and lots of ice.
Now the best way I am told is to make it all up in a big jug and chill every thing in the freezer for a while. Glasses the lot so if you have space try doing this. Place your jug in the freezer along with your glasses so that they get a frosting all over them.
Then squeeze the juice of one lime for each of the drinks you are going to make. Then take out your jug and add the juice to the just but do not get rid of the dish that the juice was in. instead sprinkle it with some salt and place to one side. Now to your jug add a load of ice and then the Tequila and conitreau. Give every thing a stir round so that the spirits are fully blended together. Ten place that back in to the fridge so it doe not melt to quickly.
Now take your glasses and dip the rims of the glasses in the salted lime juice that you have. This will give an extra bit of bite to the drink. Then you are ready to go, just garnish with fresh wedges of lime and the rind of a cucumber.
