Best Of Britain Coming To Gourmet Abu Dhabi
The
masterchef which the Sunday Times named as the UK's No: 1 chef is heading to
the UAE capital in February for a starring role in the annual Gourmet Abu Dhabi
culinary festival.
Michael
Caines - who was awarded the Member of the British Empire (MBE) medal by Queen
Elizabeth for his services to the hospitality industry - will be spearheading a
restaurant promotion in the distinctly French ambiance of Brasserie Angelique
at the five-star Jumeirah at Etihad Towers from 5-8 February.
"Michael
is the epitome of fine dining culinary excellence in England and trained under
some of the best chefs in France. His dishes have been praised as original and
brilliant by some of the world's most discerning food critics." said Doris
Greif, General Manager of Jumeirah at Etihad Towers.
"Guests
will truly be in for a treat at Michael's restaurant promotions and our kitchen
staff are already looking forward to working with a man who has taken award
after award during his career."
Chef Caines,
who is Executive Head Chef of the two-Michelin-star Gidleigh Park housed in a
Tudor-style country house in Devon, is also food & beverage director of
Brownswood Hotels and the has helped build the boutique hotel empire Abode
Hotels with a partner.
"Michael's
passion for food has transcended everything. He lost an arm in a car accident
and yet was remarkably back in his kitchen two weeks later and went out to cook
for Britain's Prime Minister and for Queen Elizabeth's 80th birthday,"
explained Noura Al Dhaheri of the Gourmet Abu Dhabi organizing committee.
"His
resilience and remarkable dedication will be on display when he demonstrates
his art and shares techniques at the Culinary Creation Stage at the Westin Golf
Resort & Spa on 7 and 8 February.

knowledge of the some of the greatest chefs on the planet."
