A Fine Cup of Tea - Newby Teas Launches New Collection in Waitrose Nationwide



London-based Newby Teas, specialist in first and second flush tea - the first shoots from the prime season of each tea harvest – is to offer a range of eight of their finest whole leaf teas, fruit and herbal tisanes through Waitrose stores nationwide.

Available from end of October, each pack of 15 individual, biodegradable silken pyramids, sealed in triple-layer alu-foil for freshness, carries specific brewing instructions, a short history of the tea or tisane and is represented by a raised image of an object from Newby's Chitra Collection of antique teaware.

These include a gold-mounted bloodstone teapot from Germany c.1750, on the English Breakfast packaging, to the exquisite Faberge silver-enamelled tea caddy, Russia c.1910 decorating the Jasmine Princess, a fragranced green tea.

The following eight teas will be available from Waitrose, six priced at £5.75 per pack with Jasmine Princess and Kan-Junga at £6.95 per pack:

English Breakfast – a traditional, robust blend of the finest black teas. The quintessential English tea, brisk and full-bodied. Ingredients: black tea.

Earl Grey - this classic British blend combines the finest black tea with bergamot. Rich and balanced with an unforgettable citrus twist. Ingredients: Black tea with bergamot flavour.

Kan-Junga - grown high in the clouds of the Himalayas, this black tea stirs the senses with floral complexity and a hint of muscatel. Ingredients: Black tea.

Masala Chai - an Indian tradition of blending black tea leaves with exotic spices. Vibrant, complex and warming to the soul. Ingredients: Black tea, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, clove.

Peppermint - a striking and profound tisane, slightly spicy one moment, penetratingly minty the next. Delectable and timeless. Ingredients: Peppermint.

Chamomile - with chamomile's soothing effect, this tisane is a sweet and mellow moment of pure calm and reflection. Ingredients: Chamomile flowers.

Jasmine Princess – smooth, delicate green tea pearls scented with pure jasmine blossoms. Inimitable, layered and lyrical. Ingredients: Green Jasmine tea.

Rooibos Orange - native to the heart of South Africa's mountainous Cederberg region, rooibos combines with citrus orange to sublime effect. Ingredients: Rooibos, orange peel, orange flavour, liquorice.
