World Cheese Awards 2014 – Opens For Entry Now
The 2014
World Cheese Awards is now open for entry at www.finefoodworld.co.uk/wca and
this year's competition which is ONLY for cheese, not related dairy products,
is expected to be the largest gathering of cheese from around the world yet.
“We
anticipate more than 3,000 different entries this year which will certainly
fill the 1,000 square metre area at this year's BBC Good Food Show in
London. Our judges are being contacted
now and we'll have cheese experts travelling from around the world to judge for
us – which is what makes the competition such a cosmopolitan event. Last year we had judges from New Zealand,
Africa, Japan and across Europe too, and many of them will make a return trip
to the UK just for World Cheese. It is a gathering of like-minded people who
are simply focussed on one result – to find the world's finest cheese,”
explained John Farrand, MD of the Guild of Fine Food organisers of the World
Cheese Awards which takes place at BBC Good Food Show, London Olympia on 14 –
16 November.
Over 30,000
people are expected to visit BBC Good Food Show and to 'nose' their way to the
World Cheese Awards area at the show which will be offering tours, tastings and
teach-ins.
There will be
cheese tours with BBC Radio 2's Nigel Barden where visitors will be able to
learn about cheese from across Europe and then get nuggets of information from
Charlie Turnbull and John Farrand – both experts in matching cheese with beer,
cider and wine.
The main
World Cheese Awards judging will take place on Friday, 14 November.
