Ipsum Vinoteca, A New Wine Bar Concept Opening In Leeds
A totally
brand new concept in Italian drinking and dining will be opening its doors in
Leeds in October, with the restaurant following in November, that will revolutionaries the idea of Italian
wine and food people have.
Ipsum
Vinoteca, the first of its type in the UK, it is not another so called enoteca
or Italian restaurant, everything about Ipsum Vinoteca is unique. Ipsum, that
in latin mean “itself”, it aims to be different from everything else, stand out
from the crowd.
Ipsum
Vinoteca will be located on the ground floor that has stood empty for far too
long of Murno House, in Duke street, a Leeds' landmark and will feature a wine
shop, a wine bar and a restaurant. The wine shop will offer the biggest
selection of Italian wines in England, with more than 300 available by the
bottle, also available to drink in the wine bar, together with more than 30
available by the glass constantly changing, allowing drinkers to discover
unknown wines. There will also be a selection of craft beers, no Peroni or
Moretti (stopped being Italian long time ago and now industrially made) and a
few cocktails to cater for the non wine drinker but Ipsum Vinoteca will be all
about Italian wine, unique wines. Ipsum Vinoteca will also offer a selection of
food to complement and accompany the wines.
Ipsum
Restaurant, a 20 seats restaurant in our cellar room, surrounded by some of the
best Italian wines, will change the idea of Italian food. Italian food outside
Italy is often associated with pizza and Bolognese pasta, however, the
restaurant won't offer any of them. An award winning chef has been recruited
from Italy to prepare dishes that Italian restaurants, in the UK, aficionados
have never seen before. No menu, only a handful of dishes changed daily with
the best and freshest local ingredients interpreted the Italian way, with
Italian ingredients flying twice a week from Italy and as much as possible
coming from locally selected suppliers. Eating in Italy is a joyful time and
requires time to prepare, all food will be made on order and patrons will be in
for a real Italian experience, like having a private chef and sommeliers just
for them, so if in a rush, Ipsum restaurant is not the right place.
Seasonality, freshness, no pre cooked food, zero kilometre whenever possible,
this is the restaurant philosophy. Ipsum will also host plenty of events, from
winemaker's dinners to wine evening.
Every single
details of Ipsum Vinoteca has been carefully thought and designed by a famous
Italian architect from Milan to provide the visitors with the best Italian
eating and drinking experience in Leeds and beyond and give a new life to an
historical building, restoring all the original features whenever possible.
