The British Pie Awards Entries Close 10th April
The British Pie Awards ENTRIES CLOSE ON 10TH APRIL
High Profile judges confirmed.
Can you taste the excitement?! The British Pie Awards are into the last few
days of entry submission – entry deadline is 10th April with judging taking
place on 24th April in Melton Mowbray, the UK’s rural capital of food. Pie makers
are urged to hurry their entry forms to the organisers immediately to
avoid disappointment!
The high profile awards are a national celebration of Pie
Making – and with last year’s tally of pies entered totalling just over
900, the UK’s professional chefs,
butchers and bakers truly put on a great show.
Winners of the 20+ classes consider the prize to be a highly sought after accolade for their
businesses.
The organisers are thrilled to welcome back high profile
judges such as Charles Campion, Phil Vickery, Xanthe Clay and Rachel Green –
and adding to the alumni of expert pie tasters this year will be Guardian
Weekend food editor Bob Granleese, Lucas
Hollweg of Sunday Times Style and Richard Ford of renowned food industry title
The Grocer.
This year's awards are set to be as tasty as ever - and as a
special addition to the Speciality Pie Class, and as a nod to the extraordinary
find of King Richard III in
Leicestershire (home of Melton Mowbray), the organisers are inviting pie
makers to enter their 'King Of Pies'.
Any pie which the entrant deems extra special and fit for a king can be
entered into this class for 2013.
The 2013 awards take place in Melton Mowbray on the 24th
April. The top 3 pie makers from each class will be invited to an all new
Awards Pie Lunch on Thursday 25th April, where the class winners and Supreme
Champion will be announced.
