Cooking, a never-ending appeal.

Cooking seems to have a never-ending appeal that is growing every day. The growth of cookery programs, cookbooks, and sites on the web dedicated to the subject is at unprecedented levels. The reasons for this are many and some are not what they might seem.

The growth of the food industry in the United Kingdom has grown over the last few years as it has in many countries. You can get in the shops all kinds of fruits and vegetables now as well as many other products. Also, the range of things that you can cook has grown. The culturally diversity that you get in the average supermarket is outstanding. So much so that you would not feel strange to walk in to the quit country town and find a wide range of products that once you would have had to go to a city to see.

The same with eating out. Once you would have not go out to eat unless it was the weekend or for a special occasion. Now it is a commonplace occurrence that you have grown used to. And also the dinner party or having some one round to eat, is ever more common place now.

All of this kind of thing would have been the preserve of the rich and wealthier people. But as food has become more open, then every one has become more commonplace. And with all of this, people have become more open to cooking. It is a thing that you can do for other people and it can make them feel good. Seeing it give them pleasure it can give you pleasure. Nothing is better than cooking a meal and sitting down with your family and friends and just talking. Think of Christmas or Thanks Giving, Easter, time that you might get together, and just enjoy the company of others.

Also in this world, it is some thing a little primeval about it all. You get the food and cook it all together. Like gardening it is something that science cannot change that much. A computer cannot take away the skill of the cook. As cooking is not an exact science, things can change as it goes along.

That and the media who are always looking for the next new thing the next celebrity chef. That also get our interest in what we are doing in the kitchen. So it looks like a grate age for any one who is interested in food.

But with every good thing you have a little bad attached. Recently the famous television chef Keith Floyd died. Before he did so he made the comment that, he had wanted to teach the world to cook, and created a nation that watched cooking on the television. He might have been right, I hope not, but only time will tell.
