From Novice To Cook In One Month
Leading UK
cook school, the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School (ENTCS) is running a one
month summer course during August, ideal for school leavers to develop skills
and techniques suitable for jobs during holidays. Whether it is for the gap year or to work in
ski chalets, shooting lodges or luxury yachts, the course takes students to a
high level in only one month.
As a cook
school which has seen former students from its longer courses enter leading
kitchens such as Fat Duck at Bray, Ottolenghi and Chez Roux, the Edinburgh New
Town Cookery School's courses are highly sought after. The one month course
offers a useful way to combine a love of quality cooking with a route to
financial independence.
As well as a
range of essential cooking skills, the course includes the REHIS Basic Food
Hygiene Certificate and modules covering nutrition, choosing and storing
produce, menu planning, budgeting and costing and very useful advice on finding
a job at the end.
ENTCS was
founded by Fiona Burrell, formerly Principal of Leith's School of Food and
Wine. She began her career in Edinburgh and has been teaching professional
cookery courses for thirty years.
Fiona is
'hands-on' and is ably supported by a highly-motivated team.
The one month
course runs from Monday 28 July to Friday 22 August 2014 and a few places
remain.
