Contract Win Is The Icing On The Cake

A leading North East events firm is celebrating its latest contract win, after launching an innovative cake-based marketing campaign.

1879 Events Management, which manages hospitality and events at the Stadium of Light and National Glass Centre, Sunderland, recently delivered more than 2000 complimentary cupcakes to over 200 businesses across the North East to raise awareness of the company.

As a direct result of the campaign, designed to highlight 1879’s broad range of services, both in-house and for external events, Northumberland-based IHC Engineering Business will now be hosting its next corporate function at the stadium.

Georgina Williams-Hodgson, Marketing Co-ordinator for IHC Engineering Business, said: “We were looking at venues throughout the North East to hold our Hi-Traq launch event when the 1879 promotional box arrived.

“After meeting with the events team it quickly became clear that the Stadium of Light could offer the flexibility and space we were looking for and we’ll now be hosting the event there in June.”

1879 Events Management, which operates as a one-stop shop for event organisers, has already catered for a wide range of events across the North East, including graduation ceremonies for the University of Sunderland, the North East Business Teesside Awards and the Sound Waves music festival organised by South Tyneside Council.

The company, which recently signed a three-year deal with leading LGBT festival Newcastle Pride, also manages the in-house catering and events operations at the National Glass Centre, Sunderland, as well as the Stadium of Light, where it caters for up to 300 and 1000 visitors respectively.

The cupcake marketing campaign, which saw a dozen vanilla and lemon flavoured treats delivered to businesses across Teesside, County Durham, North and South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, was designed to raise awareness of these services and celebrate the success which has already been achieved since the company launched in 2012.
