ONE of the North East’s favourite castles is lowering its drawbridge to those looking to start the weekend with a step back in time.


600-year-old Lumley Castle, at Chester-le-Street, County Durham – near the historic city of Durham, the intu Metrocentre at Gateshead and Newcastle city centre - has launched a Friday Night Getaway package from as little as £87.50 per person.

Guests can celebrate the end of the working week with an a la carte dinner in the hotel’s renowned Black Knight restaurant, an overnight stay in a sumptuous Courtyard bedroom and a full English or continental breakfast on the Saturday morning.


The Friday Night Getaway is based on two people sharing a Courtyard Double or Twin bedroom. Upgrades are available subject to availability and a small supplement.
