Gluten Free Baking & Living Announce Autumn/Winter Baking Course Dates
Free from
baking academy Gluten Free Baking & Living have announced new course dates
for autumn and winter 2014, including their popular Christmas baking days.
Yorkshire
based Gluten Free Baking & Living, run by husband and wife team Ian and
Deborah Thackeray, offer expert tuition in gluten free baking in three UK
venues: London, the Wirral and their hometown of Harrogate.
Since early
2013 they’ve been helping coeliacs and other people who avoid gluten and wheat
in their diets get to grips with baking with alternative flours.
Gluten Free
Baking & Living use a variety of gluten free flours – from teff and tapioca
to maize and sorghum - to produce a range of mouthwatering bakes.
Bakers on
their one-day courses are taught anything from simple loaves and pastry on the
intro course, to pain au chocolat and choux pastry on the patisserie course.
Deborah
Thackeray, nutritional therapist and baking course developer, said:
“Ian and I
aren’t the only ones dissatisfied with the sugar-laden, additive-heavy free
from baked goods available in the supermarkets. We’d much rather bake our own
and wanted to help other people achieve fabulous results in a gluten free
kitchen too!
“Our courses
are priced at between £75 and £110, depending on the course and location, and
we feel they offer great value for money. We provide all the ingredients, our
tuition, refreshments and lunch, and our bakers get to take away with them
everything they bake – that’s if they don’t devour it still warm from the oven!
“Our
delegates have commented that they also feel as though they get a
mini-nutritional therapy consultation on our courses. With my background in
nutritional therapy, all the recipes I teach on the course have been developed
with nutrition in mind. I’m happy to talk on the courses about how I’ve added
certain ingredients into a recipe to boost nutrients that coeliacs and others
on a gluten free diet may lack.”
For the
autumn/winter ‘term’ of Gluten Free Baking & Living courses, Deborah has
adapted the bread course to include cinnamon buns, baguettes, a seeded loaf,
pizza bases and soda bread. There’s also the return of the Christmas baking
courses in November, plus the addition of a Christmas-themed introduction to
gluten free baking course.

Deborah
added:
“Our
Christmas courses were very popular last year – by the end of the one-day
course, our bakers had made their Christmas cake, their Christmas pudding and
their stuffing, ticking off three jobs on their festive to do list! Anyone
who’d like to join us on this year’s Christmas baking courses needs to book their
places early to avoid disappointment.”

information about each baking course, plus testimonials from bakers who have
already taken part, is available on the Gluten Free Baking & Living website
