Watch The World Cup In A World Class Games Room

One of the North East’s most prestigious hotels has unveiled an all-new facility designed to appeal to style conscious sports fans.

Seaham Hall, Seaham, County Durham, has teamed up with one of the world’s most famous Champagne houses to create its Taittinger Sports Lounge – just in time for the start of the World Cup 2014.
Football fans keen to enjoy the action in five star luxury can not only view the games on a state-of-the-art 80 inch plasma screen but can also recreate some of the most spectacular saves and scores via a supersize table football game.

Alternatively, those who prefer cueing to kicking can enjoy a game of pool on a nine foot long table, specially covered in purple baize in keeping with the room’s décor.

The Taittinger Sports Lounge, which is open to residents and non-residents alike, is also fully serviced – meaning fans don’t have to leave the room to order drinks or light meals from the menu on offer at the adjacent Byron’s Bar and Grill.

The Lounge is the latest initiative in a rolling programme of refurbishment at the hotel - voted Small Hotel of the Year at the North East England Tourism Awards 2013 - and is available for private hire for parties of up to 30 people.

“It’s already proving immensely popular, said general manager Ross Grieve, “particularly with those whose other halves are enjoying a leisurely pamper in our award-winning Serenity Spa.

“It really is everyone’s dream games room: a giant screen, big, squashy sofas and staff on hand to bring you whatever drinks and snacks you require.”

The Taittinger Sports Lounge will be screening all World Cup games and other major sporting events throughout the year.
