Lotus Bakeries – Official Biscuit Sponsor to UK Coffee Week

Lotus Bakeries is delighted to announce that it will be the official biscuit sponsor of UK Coffee Week 2013, which runs from the 22nd - 28th April 2013.  Lotus will give away a total of over half a million exclusively co-branded wrapped biscuits to all those outlets that register to join the scheme.  And the good news for cafes, coffee shops, workplaces and other catering establishments is that reaping the benefits of being a part of UK Coffee Week could not be easier – simply log on to www.ukcoffeeweek.com and register to receive your pack.

Organised by the Allegra Foundation Ltd, UK Coffee Week is the nationwide charitable programme that celebrates the UK coffee sector, whilst raising vital funds to deliver clean drinking water projects in coffee-producing countries.  The UK Coffee Week charity, Project Waterfall currently helps some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in Tanzania gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene, by working in partnership with WaterAid.

Frances Booth, Category Marketing Manager at Lotus Bakeries is thrilled to be part of the scheme:
“As a leading brand in the food-service industry with a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, we recognise the need to support marginalised communities in coffee-producing countries who lack access to clean water. By sponsoring UK Coffee Week as the Official Biscuit Sponsor, it is the perfect way for us to help these communities whilst celebrating the UK’s thriving coffee sector.”

During UK Coffee Week, (22nd – 28th April) all participating cafes, coffee shops, workplaces and outlets will reward customers who make a small donation to Project Waterfall with an exclusive and free Lotus Caramelised biscuit.

The Allegra Foundation Chairman Jeffrey Young, is delighted to have Lotus Bakeries on board in such a significant way:
“It is crucial that for UK Coffee Week to be a success, we have the backing of major brands and companies.  Lotus biscuits are the number one complimentary bite-size snack and we are ecstatic that they are supporting such a worthwhile cause.”

Over 360,000 people participated in UK Coffee Week in 2012 by donating 5p to the price of their coffee. Activities included hosting fundraising coffee based events and participating in Coffee@Work, the initiative bringing UK Coffee Week into the workplace.

Lotus Original Caramelised Biscuits are suitable for a wide range of coffee shop customers. Not only are they free from artificial colourings, and flavourings but are suitable for vegetarians and those with a lactose intolerance.  As every Lotus biscuit is individually wrapped, they are easy to serve & provide the perfect complimentary treat for all coffee shops customers and are the ideal, cost effective way to reward customers for their loyalty & encourage repeat visits.
