Suffolk Food Hall's Cookery Class Calendar For 2013

The multi award-winning Suffolk Food Hall, the one-stop-food-and-drinks emporium showcasing the 'best of the best' of the county's produce, has just launched its 2013 cookery school and 'masterclass' calendar.

The 20-plus cookery classes led by chefs such as Emma Crowhurst (Leith's School of Food and Wine; Ready Steady Cook; BBC's Food and Drink) as well as locally-renowned bakers and butchers are designed to appeal to everyone, from absolute beginners wanting to learn new cookery skills to semi-professionals wanting to hone their foodie talents.

This year, the cookery classes have a new home: 'The Cookhouse' (adjacent to the Food Hall). Boasting a first-floor restaurant serving traditional food with a contemporary twist, and with unrivalled views of the iconic Orwell Bridge and the surrounding Area of Outstanding National Beauty, the Cookhouse's ground floor has a bespoke, fully fitted demonstration kitchen where these classes are now held.

Suggested classes include: Emma Crowhurst's 'Italian Spring'; Saturday 27th April, where pupils will find out how to make homemade pasta, risotto, black olive and parmesan polenta, tiramisu and more or Susan Hudson's 'Tastes of Spring: Bread Making to Tempt' on Saturday 25th May.

In addition to the cookery classes, the Cookhouse also hosts regular 'Kitchen Club' evenings, where a range of in-house chefs share their tips and advice in an informal atmosphere. The first Kitchen Club event of 2013 is the 'Pudding Parade'; a cook-off where three chefs prepare and serve their favourite pudding recipes whilst the audience tastes them and votes the best of the evening, is on Thursday 21st February at 7.30pm. The Kitchen Club is free to join and members get a discount on each Kitchen Club event, as well as regular e-mails with recipe ideas.

Prices (between £50 and £130) and times vary depending on the masterclass but all details can be found on the 2013 calendar by clicking here.

Please note that more cookery classes will be added throughout the year, particularly with those classes being filled quickly.

For bookings, please call the Cookhouse on 01473 786 616 or book directly via the website at www.suffolkfoodhall.co.uk/events
