Wynyard Hall Hotel Receives Prestigious Three AA Rosettes Award

One of the North East's leading country house hotels is delighted to announce its restaurant has been awarded 3 AA rosettes.

Since opening its doors 5 years ago Wynyard Hall located just outside the historic city of Durham, has built a respected reputation as the go-to luxury venue for food lovers across the region. Its most recent award is testament to their dedication to provide guests with quality food using local products.

Dining in the majestic Wellington Restaurant is truly an experience with its warming red tones, roaring log fires and luxurious fabrics, however, the dishes produced by Executive Head Chef, Alan O'Kane and his team are not overshadowed by the grandeur of their surroundings.

The restaurant was awarded 2 rosettes shortly after his appointment in 2011 and now only fifteen months later has achieved a third.

O'Kane commented: "My team and I are thrilled to receive this esteemed award recognising all the hours we have put into experimenting with flavours and textures to ensure we create delicious and innovative dishes for our guests."

Guests dining at Wynyard can expect a menu full of imaginative dishes that combine the finest seasonal ingredients from regional suppliers to create unique flavours. A firm favourite with AA inspectors was signature creation curry-scented Sea Bass with cauliflower bhaji Israeli couscous, golden sultanas and cumin velouté.

With very few restaurants possessing 3 or more rosettes, this third for Wynyard Hall places them in the top 10% in the country.

Speaking about the accolade, General Manager, Adam Dyke said: "In the past, Wynyard Hall has predominantly been known for welcoming wedding guests. Moving forward, we are all excited about reaching out to food lovers across the region to sample our award winning menus in the Wellington Restaurant, making Wynyard Hall a food destination in its own right. I am delighted that the team have been recognised in this achievement, but we won't stop at 3, we will keep pushing to improve and achieve more."

Despite the success of the Wellington Restaurant, Wynyard Hall aim to ensure that all guests can indulge in the award winning food from the famous Afternoon Tea to a delicious 7 course tasting menu.

Adam Dyke explained: "Wynyard are proud to say that in spite of the awards, all the dishes we offer are still at a price that people can afford, which is why our guests return time and time again."
