Loch Fyne Oyster Bar And Farm Shop, Clachan, Cairndow, Argyll: Winter Plans

Since opening in 1988, The Loch Fyne Oyster Bar has built a reputation as one of Scotland's very best seafood restaurants, featuring the highest quality seafood indigenous to Argyll.

Our Farm Shop and Oyster Bar have many regular customers from around Argyll, Glasgow and Central Scotland, who enjoy, often weekly, the magnificent drive through The Rest and Be Thankful to join us at Loch Fyne.  Our 'Guest Book' is truly international and we welcome back, year after year, guests from around the globe who 'make the pilgrimage' to the Oyster Bar and Shop to sample the best of Scottish seafood.

In our quieter winter months, we prepare for the forthcoming busy season from Easter to October, and this year is no exception. On January 30th, we will start a programme of work to renovate the kitchen and restaurant area and the Farm Shop. We have been very careful in our plans not to lose the unique atmosphere of Loch Fyne, but need to upgrade our kitchens and furnishings to ensure an enjoyable and comfortable experience for our thousands of customers.  We are confident that our design partners will do a great job in achieving these necessary improvements, yet retaining the Loch Fyne Oysters heritage and character.

Roy Brett, our consultant, from the renowned Ondine Restaurant in Edinburgh, has been at the forefront of the planning stage and will oversee the redevelopment programme.

Roy said "This is a very exciting development in the hugely successful history of the Oyster Bar" and Moyra Dey Front of House Manager explained "To complete the work as quickly as possible we need to close the Oyster Bar and Shop from the end of January and we aim to open by Easter. To our regulars who would normally visit us in this period we apologise and look forward to welcoming you back in March, when we are sure you will enjoy the benefits of the work we are about to undertake."

From April onwards we will be celebrating 25 Years of the Oyster Bar and Farm Shop at the Clachan site with special events, menus and celebratory dishes. We look forwarding to welcoming old and new friends and visitors.

The Oyster Bar will close on the 30th January. The Farm shop will be closed from the 4th February. Both plan to reopen for Easter Weekend.
