Vote For Lincolnshire's Favourite Food In The Peoples Choice Award

Select Lincolnshire is pleased to announce the return of The Lincolnshire Co-operative People’s Choice Award – the vote for the county’s top food as voted for by the public.

Do you think your favourite brand of Lincolnshire sausage is second to none? Or can‘t live without your favourite producers’ recipe for plumbread?  Perhaps a week doesn’t go by without you visiting your favourite eatery using the best Lincolnshire produce?

The public can now vote to give their top Lincolnshire food the seal of approval and be crowned the People’s Choice.  Voting opens on Monday 7th January and runs for two weeks, closing at midnight on Sunday 20th January.

Select Lincolnshire has c.300 members who champion Lincolnshire’s award winning food, and all of these businesses are entered into the poll. You can vote by visiting www.lincolnshire.coop or www.facebook.com/selectlincolnshire and follow the Awards link.

Last year’s vote was hugely popular, and after a closely fought battle, The Lincolnshire
Co-operative People’s Choice Award winner 2012 was Piper’s Crisps. Alex Albone of Pipers Crisps said:

“We were genuinely thrilled to be crowned the People's Choice. We take great pride and care in our products and it’s great to know that the public voted for us as their number one Lincolnshire food producer!”

For the second year running the People’s Choice Award is sponsored by Lincolnshire Co-operative – an organisation famously proud of the county and its food producing heritage. The Society has a ‘Love Local’ range and each of its 75 foodstores stocks at least 100 local products.

Emma Snedden of Lincolnshire Co-operative stated:
“Our customers support our local range because they’re keen to back Lincolnshire producers but also because they love the quality products on offer. We’re sure lots of them will vote for their favourite – though it’s going to be a really difficult choice!”

The poll is run as part of The Select Lincolnshire Food and Drink Awards and the winners are invited to celebrate at the prestigious awards dinner on 7th February 2013 at The DoubleTree by Hilton in Lincoln.

One lucky voter and their guest will also be drawn to attend the awards – and dine on a fabulous showcase menu of Lincolnshire’s finest food.  Lincoln’s Gold Medallist Paralympian Miss Sophie Wells, will be the evening’s guest speaker, along with The Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Mr Tony Worth.

Select Lincolnshire members are urged to take to their Twitter and Facebook pages and rally support for their vote.  Social Media played a vital role in the 2012 poll and voters should follow hashtag #LFDA13 to join in the campaign.
